a little about me
Art - like life - is always evolving and is an exciting adventure! You never know where it will take you.
From a young age I was always drawing or painting, whether it was rocks or paper or fabric. I sold my first painting to my Junior High School for $40. I thought I'd made it! Well, perhaps not, but it did encourage me to continue pursuing art. While I took both public and private lessons during High School and then a few classes at the University of Utah, life eventually took other turns and led down other roads.
While opportunities came to do some graphic design work here and there as part of my work assignments, including several years as an intranet publisher, it was never my primary role. Occasionally the chance would come via word of mouth for custom portraits and wall murals as side projects, which I greatly enjoyed. When work opened up opportunities for travel I started dabbling in photography which I've grown to enjoy immensely. Still, it was always something I did on the side.
After many years of other work, I decided the timing was right to venture back into the creative realm as more than just a hobby. Over the past year it has been quite fun to explore various elements of Digital Design through the program at Dixie Technical College, to both refresh and expand my skill set.
Art and design are a never-ending process of discovery and exploration. You're trying to translate more than just an image. You're trying to convey an essence - the soul of something or someone - to open a conduit into the viewer's emotions and experience of life. Even if that person is just yourself.
My hope is to fuse my creative spirit with the tools I've been able to develop, and continue to develop, to discover and create meaningful designs that people can appreciate.
